"We're going to swim in the ocean today. Want to come?" asked the gym and outdoors teacher, Lísebet. She drove one of the students, Jón Áki, home to change. 5 minutes later, Jón Áki has thrown off his clothes and ran out of his house with his trunks. It's 5 degrees celsius outside.
The other students have rendezvoused by the beach. They were stripping down to their swimwear by their car.
Ther...e's a certain anticipation in the air. This is the fourth time the students have done the ocean swim this year. The temperature is dropping. Lísebet says that for the first 10 minutes you'll feel the cold. After that, you'll be numb.
They walked slowly into the ocean. The water reaches their calves, then their thighs and finally their waist. And as slowly as they have walked into the sea, they returned. A few brave souls dived into the water.
"Get your camera ready. All of them are going to run into the sea together."
And suddenly, there it is. The embrace of the open sea.
